PLASTIC INJECTION MOLDS

The production process of plastic injection molds is one of the basic stages of modern industry. The plastic injection molding machine allows the production of various plastic parts by injecting the melted plastic raw material into a mold. With this method, plastic parts of different sizes and categories can be obtained, from the smallest components to large garden furniture. The plastic injection mold manufacturing process consists of three main stages: closing, injection and ironing.

In the sealing phase, the injection molding machine consists of three main parts: the sealing unit (vice), the injection unit and the mold. A clamping unit is a unit that keeps the mold under pressure during injection and cooling. Simply put, the closure unit is a unit that joins the two sides (female and male) of the injection mold.

At the injection stage, the granular plastic material is poured into the chamber on the injection unit. It is then taken into the cylinder, which is heated by resistance heaters, with the help of a screw controlled by the electric motor. The screw advances the plastic material, which becomes melted under temperature and pressure, to the end of the cylinder. When the screw receives enough material to fill the mold, the injection process begins. The molten plastic is sent into the mold through a nozzle at the end of the machine, and the pressure and speed are controlled by the hydraulic motor.

The ironing stage is applied to ensure that the injected molten plastic raw material completely fills the mold cavity and a part is obtained in the desired dimensions, free from errors. The process continues until the plastic solidifies in the mold. Depending on the properties of the plastic raw material used, part sizes and weight, the duration of the process varies.

In the cooling stage, the injected molten plastic raw material is hardened in the mold. Usually the mold is cooled through water channels in the mold. The plastic part that hardens in the mold is removed from the mold and ready for use in many different areas of industry. The quality of plastic injection molds is an important factor affecting the quality of the plastic parts produced. Properly and high-quality manufactured molds ensure the achievement of high-quality and error-free products. Therefore, the production of injection molds in the plastics industry is of great importance.
